Butcher Thrashed by UP Police for ‘Cow Slaughter’ Dies in AIIMS


On the allegation of cow slaughtering many people are losing their lives either by the mob or by other officials. Recently, with this cow slaughter allegation local meat seller who was allegedly beaten up by the Uttar Pradesh police and due to grave injuries he has died in a Delhi hospital.

On June 14th, the victim Salim Qureshi alias Munna, from his home was picked up by two police constables and was taken to a private wedding hall where they beat him up severely. While his wife Farzana has alleged in a complaint lodged with the police.

He was abruptly taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and they said on friday that he has died.

The victim Qureshi ran a small meat shop in Baradari area. Farzana alleged that he was summoned by Kankartola police post in-charge Ali Mian Zaidi at the behest of local corporator’s husband Anjum Khan.

Farzana said, family had admitted Qureshi in a local hospital from where he was referred to Delhi. On friday evening, the public’s emotion got hurt and they all staged a protest while placing the body on the road.

The Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Bahadur said “the two constables, Shripal and Harishankar, and Kankartola post in-charge Ali Mian Zaidi have been placed under suspension.”

With the suspension Police also claimed that they have lodged an FIR against the two constables and two others, including Anjum Khan, who tipped them while alleging cow slaughter.

This being another incident after a 45-year-old Qasim was lynched to death by self-styled gau rakshaks or the cow vigilantes on rumours of cow slaughter in UP’s Harpur.
