Editor-in-chief of Sudarshan TV channel Arrested for Allegedly Inciting Communal Hatred


Uttar Pradesh : Police has arrested editor-in-chief of the right-wing and propaganda TV channel, Sudarshan TV, Suresh Chavhanke, for allegedly fanning communal tension.

According to report Suresh Chavhanke was planning to visit Sambhal in Uttar pradesh to lead a protest rally today. The western Uttar Pradesh district has been on the boil since March 29 when locals attacked police. Chavhanke is also facing rape charges alleged by his former employee last year.

Local source in Lucknow said that Suresh was arrested by Sadar Bazar Police Station in coordination with Lucknow Police. However, the cops have not yet officially confirmed the arrest.


Sudarshan channel had allegedly telecasted a programme in which Suresh Chavhanke dished out objectionable content because of which tension prevailed in the city. The FIR was registered by the SHO when the matter was raised during a meeting of the Peace Committee on April 9, in which prominent citizens pointed out the programme telecast between April 6 to April 8.


He is also facing  a rape charge, An FIR was lodged against him in November, 2016 on a complaint by a woman employee of his channel.

In her complaint, the employee alleged that she was sexually harassed by Suresh Chavhanke for over five years.
