On friday morning, a fatal incident emerged due to stray cow in Chandigarh-Ambala flyover at Zirakpur. A 23 year old Shimla based youth was killed while two others sustained minor injuries when the SUV they were travelling in first hit the median and then rammed into a pole.
After identifying the person, it was youth named Ravinder Verma, a native of Shimla, who was putting up in Chandigarh. Those injured were Karanranbir Singh (27) and Jawinder Singh (28), residents of Chandigarh and Zirakpur, respectively.
According to sources, Karanranbir Singh, who was behind the wheel, reportedly lost control over the vehicle in order to save a stray cow on the Zirakpur flyover, while the car veered to the other side of the highway, killing Ravinder on the spot, who was sitting next to the driver’s seat.
After investigating, the investigating officier Baljit Singh said, incident occurred around 4.30 am on Friday when Karanranbir Singh, along with his two friends, Ravinder and Jawinder, was coming towards the Zirakpur side from Chandigarh to drop Jawinder.
The body was taken to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, wherein autopsy was done and then it was given to the family. The deceased, Ravinder, was preparing for competitive exams.
