Kerala : After arrest of RSS workers in connection with teen’s murder. However, the police denied any political motive behind the murder of Ananthu Ashokan.
Six Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers was arrested by Cherthala police from Vayalar, Kerala, yesterday(Friday) evening in connection with the murder of a Class 12 student. Earlier, 10 RSS members were booked and remanded in judicial custody in same case. Police denied any Political motive being this murder, source says.
Out of 16 arrested accused, seven are minors and Ananthu’s classmates. However, one accused is still on the run, Police trying to trace him up.V P Mohanlal, Cherthala Circle Inspector told TOI. The family of the absconding accused are known to be supporters of the Communist Party of India.
“The arrested are Athul, Sangeeth, Ananthu, Rahul, Midhun and Harikrishnan – all are natives of Vayalar panchayat. We are not able to reveal the names of the minors. Six accused, including three minors, will be produced before the court on Saturday as they were arrested by Friday late evening,” said the police.
The Murdered boy named, Ananthu. Student of Rama Varma Higher Secondary School at Vayalar, was allegedly attacked by gang of 17 men when he was returning home on April 5. According to hospital report “Head injuries resulted in his death,” Mohanlal told TOI. The two Local party Left Democratic Front and United Democratic Front, given a strike call in Alappuzha district on same day to protest against the murder. They also asked State and private buses to not to play and shops and other establishments to be closed.
Where CPM leader alleged that Ananthu was an RSS worker but he distanced himself from RSS caoused his murder, Local Police suspect that the men had attacked Ananthu because he was in a relationship with a girl, who happened to be the love interest of another teen. “This [love affair] could be the motive. They did not intend to murder him,” an officer told The Times of India.
BJP District President K Soman, on the other hand, told The Hindu that the CPI(M) was trying to politicise the murder.
