Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh : Addressing an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said no government should discriminate the public on the lines of religion and caste. “Sabka saath, sabka vikas is our mantra” while he himself polarised with biased comparisons.

Gaon mein kabristan banta hai toh shamshan bhi banna chahiye (If there are cemetery for Muslims then Hindus crematoria should also be built“)

Ramzan me bijli athi hai tho Diwali me bhi ani chahiye; Bhedbhav nhi hona chahiye (If there is electricity during Ramadan then it must be available during Diwali too; there shouldn’t be any discrimination)” the prime minister said, which probably intended to make the crowd feel prejudice of religious discrimination against Hindus.

Prime Minister Modi just tried to draw a conclusion among the Hindus that ‘You’re not being provided even shamshan (crematoria) while Muslims already having kabristan (Muslims cemetery)’ because Samajwadi Party is projected as ‘Muslim appeasing’ party by BJP which is utterly rubbish after witnessing the increasing backwardness of Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh.

Similarly he continued his religious polarisation by saying ‘If there is electricity during Ramadan then it must be available during Diwali too’ even though he recently praised about how his government has successfully provided electricity in thousands of villages in Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi Neglected Discrimination Against Dalits

Bringing Muslims cemetery to equate with lack of Hindus crematoria was not only lies, biased and religious polarisation, but injustice with Dalit community who are actually bearing the brunt in such case.

There are too many incidents to report where Dalits have been discriminated even after their death.

Last year a Dalit man from Morena District, Madhya Pradesh was forced to perform the last rites of his wife Sangeeta near his house after they were rejected entry into the nearby cremation ground.

Even a soldier who was martyred during Pampore terrorist attack was not spared by the Upper Caste supremacy, caste discrimination halted constable Vir Singh’s funeral at his village in Shikohabad, Firozabad district. Upper castes of the village refused to allow a public land to be used for the cremation of the slain soldier, who was from the Nat(acrobats) community.

If you thought the above atrocities are isolated incidents then you’re wrong, in Maharashtra it’s even worse, Dalits cemetery grounds are being usurped by upper caste Hindus who not only denied permission to Dalits but have beaten them if they have dared to perform last rituals on their own land. According to figures compiled by the Maharashtra ministry for social justice, Dalit burial grounds have been usurped by upper castes in with 72.13% of the state’s 43,722 villages.

In one of incident the Upper caste men stopped the funeral procession, brutally attacked the pall-bearers, and flung the body of 39-year-old Shevanta Pawar to the ground. The pall-bearers, including Pawar’s husband, Mahesh Pawar, 42, barely escaped with their lives.
