As the country struggles to get through life one day at a time without enough cash, the BJP MLA from Ghatkopar (West) assembly constituency, Ram Kadam, gleefully tweeted last week a picture of his “loving gift”, a Mercedes Benz Convertible, to his minor son.
Twitter responded with its obvious responses, questioning the wisdom behind gifting a car to his son when he is too young to even get a driving license, at a time when any lavish spending is drawing magnified attention. And not to forget the source of money, the same money over which people are losing their sleep. And in some cases their lives.
He is a kid> a car is not a toy ! Is a lethal killing machine in the hands of kids ! Be a responsible Dad 4 Gods sake !

He seems too young to drive, I hope we don't see another deadly accident when obscenely expensive cars kill pedestrians

But going by Kadam’s decision to boast publicly despite all of the above, we can only conclude that perhaps he could not be happier celebrating his son’s birthday at any other time. As is also evident from his flair for controversy, which he has invoked on quite a few occasions in the past. Kadam was in the news for threatening comedian Kapil Sharma after he complained about a Rs 5 lakh bribe he had to pay to municipal officials of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). In Kadam’s first term he was suspended for four years for unruly protest for opposing Samajwadi Party’s Abu Azmi taking oath in Hindi. Earlier, he also invited trouble for allegedly slapping a BMC officer.
