New Delhi Congress Vice President, on Sunday condemned the public slaughter of a calf in Kerala allegedly by some Youth Congress members, to protest against the government’s move of banning the sale of cows for slaughter.
Rahul Gandhi, terming the incident as “thoughtless and barbaric” said that the party did not support the incident. “What happened in Kerala yesterday is thoughtless and barbaric and completely unacceptable to me and the Congress party. I strongly condemn the incident” Rahul tweeted.

Youth Congress Activists slaughtered a calf in broad daylight, cooked its meat and distributed it as a as a protest against the central government. ” We will eat beef to show our protest against the central government, we want to tell this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi” said DYFI National President Mohammad Riyaz, on Saturday.

It is sad that Youth Congress activists stooped so low for publicity,” CPI(M) leader MB Rajesh said. Police have registered a case against district president of Youth Congress and other Congress workers for slaughtering the calf.
The Congress has suspended three workers of its youth wing in Kerala for killing an ox in public to protest against a Central government order regulating cattle sale.
