Saharanpur : Communal Violence Erupts After BJP MP took out Rally Without Permission

Saharanpur : Not a month has finished  on Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh and just another violence is already added in count.  Saharanpur witnessed communal clashes on Thursday after BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal took out a Sobha Yatra of Ambedkar without police permission through the communally sensitive parts of the city.

According to sources this Sobha Yatra was banned in this area from last 7 year, but when Yogi government came to power BJP MP took this yatra even after Police rejected to give permission. SP,  Saharanpur, Love Kumar, has ordered filing of FIR against Mr. Lakhanpal and over 500 others for the violence, vandalism and attack on the house of the Senior Superintendent of Police and the DM office.

Since BJP had formed government in UP and Yogi Adityanath has become CM, Hindu hardliners groups are misusing the power, few such groups with coordination with local BJP leaders, announced that they would take out a Sobha Yatra, through the village where majority of population is Muslims. The police denied them permission as it was a communally sensitive area, but the BJP leaders went ahead.

MP’s threat

BJP MP Mr. Lakhanpal threatened and said they will carry the “shobha yatra” through Sadak Dudhli on April 23. The MP said “he would not allow Saharanpur to become Kashmir,” a comparison which provoked strong condemnation from SP leaders like Sudhir Panwar and Dalit activists like Satish Prakash.

The out going Samajwadi Party who have lost recent election to BJP has formed a five-member team to probe the violence and submit a report in three days to party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

“Police took out a flag march in the village and the situation is under control,” Mr. Kumar told the media. He said two FIRs had been registered, one for the communal clash in which 10 persons from both sides had been booked and another for the attack on the SSP’s house and vandalism and rioting on the road in which BJP MP’s supporters were found to be involved.
