AGRA: An under-construction public toilet was demolished by the locals at Water Works Chowraha in Hariparwat of Agra as the bricks had the name of a Hindu deity embossed on them.
The toilet was being built by the municipal corporation and the bricks used in the construction work had the word “RAM” embossed on them. The construction has stopped after the protests. People raised “Jai Sri Ram” slogans and said that using bricks with the holy name to make a toilet was an insult to Ram and no Hindu would tolerate that.
Officials reached the spot and assured people that those bricks won’t be used again.Mayor Naveen Jain said that he would get the matter investigated. An FIR is yet to be lodged against the owner of the brick kiln. Supply of such bricks will be banned in Agra, said officials.
