Kulgam, Kashmir: In yet another spirit of communal harmony and unity in diversity, Muslims at Manzgam village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district helped perform the last rites of a Kashmiri Hindu woman.

Rani Ji, wife of Balko Singh, a resident of Damhal Hanjopra Kulgam passed away on Tuesday. The family had refused to leave and had trust in their Muslim neighbors after most of the members of their community migrated to Jammu and other parts of India during Kashmiri Pandits Exodus.

According to sources, Singh’s family is the only non-muslim family in the village, the Singhs were helped by several Muslims neighbours in the village in performing the last rites of the deceased while others condoled the bereaved members.

A Muslim villager said, “Our religion Islam teaches us to live in communal harmony and stresses to restrain and refrain from doing any harm to minorities”.

This is not first time, last month few Kashmiri Muslims made arrangements for the last rites of Tej Kishan who passed away today in Tricha village of the district. Muslim neighbours rushed to the house of Kishan after the news of his death reached them, reported by us Us.
